The Eva Hart, Chadwell Heath
This Wetherspoon pub is named after one of Chadwell Heath's best-known residents, and one of the longest living survivors of the Titanic disaster. The ill-fated ship sank in April 1912, but Eva Hart lived to tell the tale. She died in 1996, aged 91.
The pub was once the town's police station. The original police station was built in 1850, on the site of the old stocks. It was replaced, in 1891-1892, by the current building.
The Eva, as a Wetherspoon's premises had the usual suspects beer and food wise and can not be faulted. We arrived on our trip to take on Barking in the lashing rain and we only had time for a couple and a quick bite to eat.
