The Worpell in Ware is a funny little pub. Positioned in between two roads coming off a roundabout seems a strange place to put a pub, but I'm sure that is more to do with Ware Town Council's Highways Dept rather than any forward thinking from Greene King.
This did give us a small problem of finding somewhere to park. The pub does not seem to have a designated car park, although I would advise going past the pub down Park Road a few hundred yards an parking in the service road.
This Greene King pub did not have any guest beers when we visited, and the IKEA style interior is definitely an acquired taste. So all we had to choose from was IPA and Abbott, both of which were well looked after and tasted as they should,
The landlord was a jolly chap, who welcomed us with open arms as he only had two other customers. After ordering the drinks we realised that we did not have enough cash to cover it. What followed has never happened to me in a pub before.
We asked where the nearest cash point was, the landlord then said that they had a debit card machine and that we could put £10 through on the debit card and he would give us the change from the till. Under normal circumstances they would have said you have to spend £10, as they do at Creasey Park, but this way everyone wins. Very impressed with their hospitality, if not with their selection of beer.
