Lacey's Ale & Cider House, Bideford

The start of a new season, in another new division, and an opening fixture in Devon. It does not get much better that this.

A monster coach journey, which consisted of a hugely competitive game of "Camper Van" and an expensive pit stop at M&S in Leigh Delamere services, finally saw us arrive in Bideford in enough time for our first PMR (Pre Match Regimental) of the season.

A short 2 minute walk from the ground is Lacey's Ale & Cider House. Yes, it is as good as it sounds!

Originally set up by Country Life Brewery as their brewery tap, it has been run independently since November 2012. A long narrow pub with large double doors at the front, that open onto the street in the summer, gives Lacey's a great atmosphere, helped by an impressive jukebox.

Many pints of Country Life Old Appledore, Devonshire Piglet and Pot Wallop were sampled before and after the match, to make the long journey home bearable with DJ Yella's Mobile Karaoke in the rear of the coach.
