Red Lion, Paulton

Another long coach journey was made all the worthwhile for the visit to the Red Lion in the sleepy village of Paulton in Somerset.

The coach driver was legend enough to not only drop us off at the pub, he also picked us up after the game as well. He probably regretted it on the way home!

Anyway, the Red Lion is an old fashioned style pub with quiet lounge and a busier bar with a skittle alley, pool table, jukebox and an amazing game of Ringing the Bull. A bizarre pre-match session of skittles was accompanied by a rock band setting up in the restaurant area and as we left for the walk to the ground, the pub was flooded with bikers.

Most had dispersed on our return and the band treated us to a requested version of "Smoke on the Water", before we tried our hand at Ringing the Bull. Some had success after picking up a few tips from the locals.

Many pints of Butcombe Bitter were quaffed before the journey home and a repeat of DJ Yella's boom box.
